través de
Le Friquet
(1900) y
Vive la justice
!
(1888),
la esfera doméstica In her profuse literary production , the French writer Gyp (1849 - 1932) expressed her strong condemnation not only of violence against wome n, but also of that one involving a more vulnerable group : children and minors. Beyond this eclectic «gender - based violence», in this study, we will delve into the workplace and domestic violence latent in her stories, with particular emphasis on Child Sex ual Abuse (CSA). A serious public health problem that, despite its recent visibility, had been already condemned by this Breton playwright at the dusk of the nineteenth century . Her prec ursor y approach to CSA excels , besides the accuracy with which she not iced its effects, by her pioneering perception of other underlying dimensions. The secrecy imposed by perpetrators, the female helplessness against street harassment or the passivity of a legal system unable to combat child abuse were some of the controver sial issues covered by Gyp for the sake of child protection. Through Le Friquet (1900) and Vive la justice ! (1888), we will analyze until what extent her dramatic production contributed to demy stify many of the stereotypes whereby the patriarchal society still conceals and, even legitimize , these abuses of power both within and outside the domestic sphere |
