Benidorm. Un destino turístico de altura.

Abstract

Pocos destinos turísticos son tan denostados como sucede con Benidorm. Bien sea por su urbanismo centrado en potentes rascacielos, por haberse especializado en el turismo de sol y playa o por ser un destino de masas, Benidorm forma parte de los discursos perversos del turismo. Injustamente, en determinados foros se hace difícil hablar bien de Benidorm. El objetivo de este texto es valorar, sin prejuicios previos, lo que realmente es y representa Benidorm en el turismo. Es el tercer centro receptor de turismo en España; el segundo de Europa en ocupación hotelera; una localidad con un ambiente urbano y turístico único en el que anualmente millones de turistas ven satisfechas su ilusiones y que repiten sus viajes. Un lugar que, desde los inicios del turismo moderno sigue manteniendo el liderazgo pero que resulta incomprensible para muchos.

ABSTRACT Only a few touristic destinations are as insulted as Benidorm is. Benidorm is a part of the tourism perverse speeches due to its urbanism, based on powerful skyscrapers, due to its specialization on sun and beach tourism, or for being a mass destination. Unfairly, it is difficult to speak positively of Benidorm in some forums. The goal of this text is to value, without previous prejudices, what is and represents Benidorm. It is the third tourism receiver in Spain; the second in Europe referred to hotel occupations; it is a place with an urban and touristic ambient where millions of tourists satisfy their illusions annually, and they normally repeat Benidorm as their tourist destination. A place that keeps the leadership from the beginnings of the modern tourism, what is not easily undesrstable for many people.
