. La
primera inscripción presenta los nombres de dos difuntos, dos hermanos hijos de Cosilo.
El
nombre
Κόσιλλος
aparece en Creta, aparte de esta inscripción, en Eliro en Creta Occidental en
el s. II a.C. Fuera de Creta este nombre no ha sido atestiguado en ninguna otra parte. En l
a
tercera inscripción se han conservado las dos letras finales del nombre del padr
e en la segunda
línea. Se trata probablemente de un antropónimo con un sufijo en
-
δας
, cuyo empleo es usual en
cretense. The author of the paper publishes and studies three new funerary inscriptions of the Hellenistic age found in the Western Necropolis of Aptera (Crete) by the Greek archaeologist V. Niniou - Kindeli. The text of the inscriptions reads: Inscr. 1, A) ̣ Ἰ̣ κ̣̣αρ̣ [ - -] | Κοσίλ [ λω ], in L. 1 perhaps ῎ ̣Ι̣κ̣ α̣ρ̣ [ ος ]. B) Νέων | Κοσίλ [ λω ]; Inscr. 2, Νικ̣α [ - - -] | Διογ [ νήτω ?] ; Inscr. 3 , [- - -] | [ - - -] δα . The first inscription presents the names of two deceased brothers who are sons of Kosillos. The name Κόσιλλος appears in Crete, apart from this inscription, in Elyros in West Crete in the 2nd century BC. Out of Crete this name has no t been found elsewhere. The final two letters of the father's name have survived in the second line of the third inscription. It is probably a personal name with a suffix in - δας , whose use is common in Crete . |
