Control de ocio bajo el franquismo. Teleclubs en el Campo de Cartagena

Abstract

Se han publicado diferentes textos sobre el uso del tiempo libre en los pueblos de la comar- ca de Cartagena. Este artículo presenta como novedad el empleo de fuentes orales procedentes del «Archivo de la Palabra y de la Imagen» del Archivo Municipal de Cartagena. Igualmente es una apro- ximación a la sociabilidad cultural que representaron los teleclubs durante los años 60 y 70 del siglo XX. La filosofía del teleclub se podría resumir en entretenimiento a cambio de propaganda. El Ministerio de Información y Turismo facilitaba a los asociados un receptor de televisión al tiempo que se programaban actividades teatrales, conferencias, bailes y, de paso, se aportaba una buena dosis de doctrina franquista. Los teleclubs ampliaron la raquítica oferta cultural del medio rural y permitían cierta capacitación laboral de los jóvenes destinada al sector industrial y de servicios. En su etapa últi- ma, los teleclubs también mostraron cómo España caminaba hacia su homologación democrática, incluidos sus pueblos.

Different texts have been published about the use of leisure time in the towns in the region of Cartagena. This article presents as a novelty the use of oral sources from the «Archive of the Word and Image» at the Municipal Archive of Cartagena. It is also an approximation to the cultural socia- bility that teleclubs represented during the 60s and 70s in the 20th century. The philosophy of the tele- club could be roughly summarised as an entertainment in exchange for propaganda. The Ministry of Information and Tourism provided a television receiver; at the same time they organised cultural activ- ities and, concurrently, a good dose of Francoist doctrine was supplied. They amplified the poor cul- tural offer in the rural areas. They also provided some labour training for the young destined to the industrial and services sector. The teleclubs made evident in their latest period that Spain walked towards democracy, including its towns and villages.
