dc.description.abstractOne of the main general objectives of the Educative Reforma is the improvement of the capacity of personal equilibre in the pupils of Obligatory Secundary Education, rela- ting this capacity with cognitive, intelectual and motion ones. Thus, the Basic Curricular Design indicates that the self-concept and self-steem are good predictors of the future success in the schoo1s. In this paper, the different theories of se1f-knowledge are shown, focusing on the L'Ecuyer's Model, which is the most referred in guidance praxis and literature. A concep- tual and methodological differentiation about the selfconcept and selfsteem is carried out by means of the definition of each theoric constructum and the analyse of the different instruments and tecniques of evaluation and measure of both concepts. Finally, the characteristiques, factors and functions which influence on the self- knowledge or se1f-concept are exposed.-
