Más allá del Surrealismo: Claude Cahun. Compromiso, resistencia y política identitaria

Abstract

La presente tesis se inscribe en el proceso de recuperación de la escritora y fotógrafa conocida como Claude Cahun. Tras el silencio que durante más de cuarenta años envolvió su obra, la reaparición de su trabajo fotográfico en las últimas décadas del siglo XX ha suscitado un gran interés por la extraordinaria actualidad de su propuesta identitaria. El mundo del arte y la vanguardia de las teorías post-feministas advierten el trazado avant la lettre de la práctica discursiva que promueven. El éxito de su proyecto plástico conlleva, sin embargo, el olvido habitual de su obra escrita. Raramente explotada, esta faceta completa, guía e incluso cuestiona las posiciones hasta ahora mantenidas sobre ella. La investigación cuenta con cuatro capítulos: el primero estudia las relaciones del surrealismo con las mujeres que participaron en él; analizaremos así las causas de su presencia anecdótica en las páginas que lo contienen; el segundo establece la especificidad de Claude Cahun respecto al espacio creativo donde participó y a las creadoras del mismo, conllevando, igualmente, un estudio particular de sus causas de desaparición de la historia; el tercero analiza el desarrollo del compromiso político de la vanguardia surrealista y de Claude Cahun a lo largo de su existencia; el cuarto aborda la concepción identitaria de la autora y su revisión de ciertos personajes femeninos de la cultura bíblica y el folclore occidental en HéroïnesThis study is part of the recovery Project of a huge amount of female artists who were forgotten by History. This dissertation intends to light up the life and ideas of the writer and photographer Claude Cahun who, like the majority of female artists, was dramatically covered by the darkness. This research focuses on two main questions: her political compromise and her questioning of the notion of Identity. The approach will be carried out based on her writings so as to complete, guide and perhaps question the opinions held until today. The dissertation could be divided into four sections. The first phase of the project involves an analysis of the relationship between the Surrealist movement and the women who took active part in it. It will lead us to analyse the reasons why they were kept in the shadow. The second will show the specific characteristics of the author according to the movement and to the women who participated in it. It will involve a particular study of her historical erasure. The third will study the development of the political compromise of the surrealist avant-garde and Claude Cahun. The fourth phase will analyse the theory of multiple identities suggested by the author, so closely connected to postmodern feminist theories, and her novel perspective of some biblical and folklore female characters in her Héroïnes.
