Evolución del arte escultórico funerario en Cartagena en el tránsito del siglo XIX al XX.

Abstract

En el último tercio del siglo XIX el arte funerario se convierte en un reflejo de estatus social de la burguesía dominante, de sus virtudes y cualidades, construyéndose fastuosos panteones que aludían a la perfecta vida cristiana de los difuntos. Por el contrario, en el primer tercio del siglo XX los temas iconográficos se simplifican, incidiendo en los valores humanos de la muerte (desconsuelo, dolor o nostalgia) lo que se traduce en una demanda más estandarizada, industrializada casi, con modelos rápidamente aceptados porque son más baratos y ponen este arte a disposición de capas más amplias de la sociedad.

In the last third of the 19th century the funeral art turns into a reflection of social status ofthe dominant middle class, of his virtues and qualities, there being constructed magnificent pantheonsthat were alluding to the perfect Christian life of the deceased.
