Una aproximación a la influencia de la Inteligencia Emocional Percibida en su relación con los niveles de Burnout y Engagement en el desempeño del Trabajo Social

Abstract

Los/as Trabajadores/as sociales han sido definidos, tradicionalmente, como grupo de riesgo para padecer burnout, siendo escasas las investigaciones vinculadas a este colectivo. Siguiendo nuevas líneas de investigación sobre los elementos que pueden intervenir en ello, este trabajo trata de ofrecer un nuevo abordaje a la cuestión, realizando un estudio inicial exploratorio que analiza la relación entre la inteligencia emocional percibida (IEP) y el grado de desgaste profesional (burnout) y los niveles ilusión por el trabajo (engagement) en profesionales del trabajo social. Material-Método. Partiendo de la hipótesis de que la IEP funciona como un factor protector para la aparición y desarrollo del burnout y a su vez, se asocia con niveles más elevados de ilusión por el trabajo, seleccionamos una muestra de trabajadores sociales en el ámbito territorial de Castilla la Mancha compuesta por 45 profesionales. Para ello se utilizaron una serie de instrumentos: la escala de inteligencia emocional percibida (TMMS-24), de medición del engagement (UWES) y la escala para medir el burnout (MBI). Resultados y Discusión. Los resultados atisban la necesidad de prestar atención a los componentes emocionales en el desempeño del trabajo social. Encontramos que tanto la claridad como la reparación emocional tienen relación directa con los niveles de ilusión en el trabajo (engagement). Se hallaron niveles medio-altos en los componentes del burnout, especialmente relevante en el caso de la despersonalización, lo que pone de manifiesto que se debe prestar atención a los factores incidentes en esta cuestión así como a la exploración de los componentes que puedan mediar para solventarlo

The social workers have been defined, traditionally, as a group at risk to suffer burnout, but there are scanty the investigations linked to this group. Following new lines of investigation on the ele-ments that can intervene in it, the present investigation tries to offer a new boarding to the question, realizing an initial exploratory study that the relation analyzes between the perceived emotional intelli-gence (IEP), burnout and engagement of social workers native of Castilla la Mancha. Departing from the hypothesis of that the IEP works as a protective factor for the appearance and development of the burn-out and in turn, it associates with higher levels of illusion for the work (engagement) we select a sample of social workers in the territorial area of Castilla - la Mancha composed by 45 professionals. For what a series of tests were in use: the scale of emotional perceived intelligence (TMMS-24), of measurement of the engagement (UWES) and the scale to measure the burnout (MBI). The results watch the need to pay attention to the emotional components in the performance of the social work. We think that both the clarity and the emotional repair have direct relation with the levels of engagement. In the sample levels were situated way - high place in the components of the burnout, specially relevant in case of the desper-sonalization, which reveals that it is necessary to pay attention to the incidental factors in this question as well as to the exploration of the components that could happen to settle it.
