Comparación del desarrollo fonético-fonológico de niños con Síndrome de Down y desarrollo típico : influencia de los aspectos madurativos y cognitivos

Abstract

El objetivo principal de esta investigación, es conocer y valorar el desarrollo fonético-fonológico de los niños con Síndrome de Down teniendo en cuenta los aspectos cognitivos (cociente intelectual) y los aspectos madurativos (edad cronológica). Para poder tener una referencia del desarrollo fonético-fonológico de estos niños y establecer comparaciones, se ha evaluado también a un grupo de niños con desarrollo típico. La muestra se compone de 70 sujetos con Síndrome de Down que presentan trisomía regular. También han sido seleccionados 80 sujetos con desarrollo típico que han servido de grupo control. Se decidió trabajar con niños con Síndrome de Down en un intervalo que va de los 4 a los 10 años de edad y con niños con desarrollo típico en un intervalo que va de los 3 a los 10 años de edad. Los niños Síndrome de Down presentan cocientes intelectuales situados en el intervalo que va de 69 a 40. Por otro lado, para evaluar el desarrollo fonético-fonológico de los niños que participan en la investigación, se han utilizado el Registro Fonológico Inducido y el Barrido Fonético. Los resultados indican que el desarrollo fonético-fonológico de los niños con Síndrome de Down sigue un proceso similar al de los niños con desarrollo típico, aunque a un ritmo más lento. Además, hemos detectado que la edad cronológica y el cociente intelectual influyen en el desarrollo fonético-fonológico de los niños con Síndrome de Down. En este caso, cuanto mayor es el cociente intelectual y la edad cronológica, menos errores articulatorios se producen. Por último, creemos que el desarrollo fonético-fonológico de los niños con Síndrome de Down no puede ser explicado por la edad cronológica sin tener en cuenta el desarrollo cognitivo, porque niños con la misma edad cronológica y diferente nivel cognitivo, tienen un distinto desarrollo lingüístico.

ABSTRACT The main objective of this research is to understand and evaluate the phonetic-phonological development of children with Down Syndrome given the cognitive (intelligence quotient) and maturational aspects (chronological age). To have a reference to the phonetic-phonological development of these children and make comparisons, has also evaluated a group of children with typical development. The sample consists of 70 subjects with Down Syndrome presenting regular trisomy. They have also been selected 80 subjects with typical development have served as control group. It was decided to work with children with Down syndrome in an interval ranging from 4 to 10 years of age and children with typical development in a range of from 3 to 10 years old. Down Syndrome children have intelligence quotients located in the range of 69 to 40. Moreover, to evaluate the phonetic-phonological development of children involved in the research, analyzed the Induced Phonological Register and Sweep Phonetic. The results indicate that the phonetic-phonological development of children with Down Syndrome is similar to that of children with typical development, although at a pace slower process. Also, we found that chronological age and intelligence quotient influence the phonetic-phonological development of children with Down Syndrome. In this case, the higher the intelligence quotient and chronological age, less articulatory errors. Finally, we believe that the phonetic-phonological development of children with Down Syndrome can´t be explained by chronological age regardless of cognitive development, because children with the same chronological age and cognitive level differently, have a different language development .
