Explorando el trauma y la mirada patriarcal: un análisis de la violencia y de la relación maternofilial en El amor molesto de Elena Ferrante

Abstract

El presente estudio examina la novela El amor molesto (1992) de Elena Ferrante, centrándose en la complejidad de las relaciones maternofiliales en el contexto de la sociedad patriarcal napolitana. A través del análisis de la narrativa y de la tempo-ralidad fragmentada de la obra, se revela cómo la protagonista, Delia, desentraña la historia de su madre, Amalia, cuya muerte aparentemente accidental desencadena un proceso de introspección y confrontación con un pasado traumático. Este proceso llevará a Delia a cuestionar y finalmente comprender a la figura materna, así como las dinámicas de poder y de violencia que han marcado su relación con Amalia. Ferrante articula una crítica al control patriarcal, y utiliza la ciudad de Nápoles como un reflejo de la opresión y de la resistencia femeninas. ------------------

The present study examines Elena Ferrante’s novel Troubling Love (1992), highlighting the complexity of maternal-filial relationships in the context of patriarchal Neapolitan society. Through the analysis of the narrative and the fragmented temporality of the work, it reveals how the protagonist, Delia, unravels the story of her mother, Amalia, whose seemingly accidental death triggers a process of introspection and confrontation with a traumatic past. This process will lead Delia to question and finally understand the maternal figure, as well as the dynamics of power and violence that have marked her relationship with Amalia. Ferrante articulates a critique of patriarchal control, and uses Naples as a reflection of female oppression and resistance.
