The language of television fiction of the last twenty years seems to significantly approach spontaneous speech. However, there is a lack of systematic research to confirm these hypotheses. The research presented in this article aims to partially fill this gap. The first question we asked ourselves is this: is it true that the speech of television fiction effectively simulates spontaneous speech? Secondly, are there differences in the simulation of speech between Italian and Spanish-language fiction? And, if so, which one is closer to the spontaneous speech and what are the reasons for this? Subordinately, the survey aims to observe for Italian fiction there are qualitative differences related to production, that is, if the fiction produced by public networks is more prudent in accepting the forms of spontaneous speech than that produced by private networks. To answer these questions we chose two couples of successful television series, both based on a Spanish format: Médico de familia and Un medico in famiglia; Los Serrano and I Cesaroni. The analysis is carried out on a range of parameters that consider features of phonetics and prosody, morphosyntax, lexicon and pragmatic features.-
