Membra disiecta. La découverte d’un fragment inconnu du Roman de la Rose dans la Bibliothèque universitaire de Salamanque.

Abstract

El objetivo de este artículo es dar a conocer nuestro reciente hallazgo de un fragmento ma-nuscrito del Roman de la Rose, copiado en el siglo XIV y conservado en las guardas delante-ra y trasera de las cubiertas de un libro impre-so en Francia en el siglo XVI, que forma par-te actualmente de los fondos de la Biblioteca General Histórica de la Universidad de Sala-manca (España). Se trata de dos folios de papel, seguramente separados de un antiguo bifolio, los cuales, una vez desmembrados del códice original, sirvieron como elemento de encuader-nación del libro impreso. Nuestro objetivo, en este primer trabajo, será describir la metodolo-gía de la fragmentología que seguiremos en un futuro próximo para el análisis de los membra disiecta. Un estudio paleográfico, codicológico y filológico del fragmento nos abrirá la posibi-lidad de investigar la posible existencia de otros fragmentos dispersos de un mismo códice, que pudieron sobrevivir como parte de la encuader-nación de otros libros del siglo XVI.

The aim of this article is to report our recent discovery of a manuscript fragment of the Roman de la Rose, copied in the 14th century and preserved in the front and back covers of a book printed in France in the 16th century, which is now part of the collection of the Bi-blioteca General Histórica of the University of Salamanca (Spain). These are two sheets of paper, probably separated from an old bifolium, which, once dismembered from the original co-dex, served as a binding element for the printed book. Our aim, in this first paper, will be to des-cribe the fragmentology methodology that we will follow in the near future for the analysis of the membra disiecta. A palaeographic, codico-logical and philological study of the fragment will open up the possibility of investigating the possible existence of other scattered fragments of a dismembered codex, which may have survived as part of the binding of other 16th-century books.
