Las trompetas largas de los Andes peruanos

Abstract

Entre los aerófonos tradicionales del espacio cultural andino se encuentran las trompetas naturales. Un subconjunto de esas trompetas incluye instrumentos cuyos cuerpos superan los 2 m de longitud. Tales artefactos son construidos y empleados a lo largo y ancho de toda la cordillera, desde Ecuador hasta el sur de Chile, y son reconocidos por la espectacularidad de su aspecto y la potencia de su sonido. El artículo describe las trompetas largas de los Andes peruanos, lo cual incluye las secciones del área cultural andina conocida como Andes septentrionales y Andes centrales. Los instrumentos, si bien ampliamente reconocidos en sus regiones de origen, necesitan de una investigación más profunda y de una divulgación más extensiva de sus repertorios, tanto para asegurar su supervivencia como para facilitar su reconocimiento entre el público en general.

Among the traditional aerophones of the Andean cultural space are the natural trumpets. A subset of those trumpets includes instruments whose bodies exceed 2 m in length. Such artifacts are built and used throughout the entire mountain range, from Ecuador to southern Chile, and are recognized for their spectacular appearance and the power of their sound. The article describes the long trumpets of the Peruvian Andes, which includes the sections of the Andean cultural area known as the Northern Andes and the Central Andes. The instruments, although widely recognized in their regions of origin, need deeper research and more extensive dissemination of their repertoires, both to ensure their survival and to facilitate their recognition among the general public.
