Evolución de la Inquisición y su implicación en la brujería en el Reino de Navarra durante los siglos XVI y XVII

Abstract

En este estudio se pretende analizar cómo el Santo Oficio se estableció y consolidó en suelo navarro y cuál fue su comportamiento ante los ritos paganos y supersticiones que existían con anterioridad en este lugar y que se consideraron como brujería. Así mismo, se analizará el punto y aparte que supuso la llegada del inquisidor Alonso de Salazar y Frías al tribunal de Logroño en 1610 y también, cuáles fueron las consecuencias de las decisiones que tomó ese inquisidor al que Henningsen llamó, “El abogado de las brujas”.

The aim of this study is to analyse how the Holy Office was established and consolidated on navarrese soil, and how it behaved towards those indigenous pagan rites and superstitions that the Tribunal regarded as witchcraft. It will also focus on the paradigm shift brought by the arrival of the inquisitor Antonio de Salazar y Frías to Logroño in 1610, and the consequences of the decisions that the man Henningsen called “the witches’ lawyer” took.
