Abstract

La verdad sobre el caso Savolta (1985) de Eduardo Mendoza presenta al lector un final inconcluso. La narrativa adopta la forma de un laberinto borgiano y hace imposible llegar a esclarecer esa verdad que nos anticipa el título. A través de la novela policíaca, el autor nos introduce de forma gradual en una realidad imprecisa en la que cada individuo tiene su propia versión de lo que ocurre y en la que el concepto de la verdad va vinculado casi siempre con el poder. Aquellos que lo ostentan, ejercen también el control para determinar qué verdad se divulga y el uso que se hace de ella. Al final, lo único demostrable es la existencia de múltiples verdades.

Using the detective novel as the literary frame, the author gradually leads us to an imprecise reality in which each individual has his own version of the events and in which the concept of truth is almost always linked to power. Those who have the control have the chance to determine what truth is made known and the purpose behind it. In the end, the only definite thing is the existence of multiple truths.
