Retórica, propaganda e identidad en la invasión de Ucrania. El antifascismo como argumento en los discursos de Putin y Zelenski.

Abstract

La invasión rusa de Ucrania ha traído nuevamente una guerra al corazón de Europa y los discursos y relatos dominantes en dicha contienda merecen ser objeto de atención desde un punto vista crítico. En este artículo examinamos algunas de las características de la retórica belicista desplegadas por los presidentes ruso y ucraniano, Vladimir Putin y Volodomir Zelenski, desde el enfoque general del análisis crítico del discurso (ACD) y el análisis histórico del discurso (AHD). El objetivo central es analizar el uso coincidente en los discursos de ambos mandatarios del argumento del antifascismo y la lucha contra los nazis, con el fin de desentrañar el porqué de la selección de una misma estrategia argumentativa en un enfrentamiento bélicamente desigual. Para ello, nos centraremos en el despliegue de los topoi -tópicos o lugares comunes en la argumentación aparentemente incuestionables del antifascismo y la “desnazificación” en cuatro discursos especialmente relevantes emitidos por dichos mandatarios en el transcurso de la guerra. Entre las conclusiones destacan tres hechos: el antifascismo es utilizado por Putin y Zelenski para justificar la invasión y mantenimiento, respectivamente, de la guerra en Ucrania; este argumento se pone al servicio de la construcción de sus identidades nacionales; ambos representan distintos tipos de antifascismo que se desarrollaron y convivieron en el transcurso de la Segunda Guerra Mundial: el de raigambre estalinista, en el caso de Putin, y el conservador al estilo Churchill, en el caso de Zelenski.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has once again brought a war to the heart of Europe, and the dominant discourses and narratives in that conflict deserve critical attention. In this article we examine some of the characteristics of the warmongering rhetoric displayed by the Russian and Ukrainian presidents, Vladimir Putin and Volodomir Zelensky, from the general approach of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and Historical Discourse Analysis (HDA). The central objective is to analyze the coincident use in the discourses of both leaders of the argument of anti-fascism and the fight against the Nazis, in order to unravel the reason for the selection of the same argumentative strategy in a warlikely unequal confrontation. To do this, we will focus on the deployment of the topoi -topics or common places in the apparently unquestionable argumentation of anti-fascism and “denazification”- in four especially relevant speeches issued by these leaders during the war. Among the conclusions, three facts stand out: anti-fascism is used by Putin and Zelensky to justify the invasion and maintenance, respectively, of the war in Ukraine; this argument is put at the service of the construction of their national identities; both represent different types of anti-fascism that developed and coexisted during the Second World War: one with Stalinist roots, in the case of Putin, and conservative Churchill-style, in the case of Zelensky.
