The comic, as an art, represents a remarkable mean of literary and graphic expression. The construction of meaning in this type of narrative, and consequently its decoding, relies essentially on the networking of a set of visual and textual codes that allow an idea to be adapted or a story to be told in a unique and original way. Therefore, in this paper, we attempt to reflect on those elements of comic language that constitute a significant vehicle for lexical creativity, namely interjections and onomatopoeia, in order to present the expressive and interpretable potential of sequential art. Our study is based on the corpus from written language derived from the contemporary noir comic book series Blacksad created by Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido. |
