Abstract

Tras la crítica que Martin Heidegger hizo de la metafísica occidental, algunos autores como Gilson o Fabro, entre otros, quisieron entrar en confrontación, dándoles esto la oportunidad de profundizar en las tesis más importantes de autores como Tomás de Aquino y su filosofía del esse. Las tesis de Gilson tuvieron un importante impacto en el mundo del tomismo, pero Lawrence Dewan, también tomista, quiso defender frente a Gilson la interpretación tradicional de Cayetano y Capreolo, que hasta ahora habían sido tenidos como los más célebres comentadores de Tomás. Este artículo investiga un punto concreto de esta confrontación: la causalidad del esse.

After the criticism that Martin Heidegger made of Western metaphysics some authors like Gilson or Fabro, among others, wanted to enter into confrontation giving them the opportunity to study in depth most important theses of authors like Thomas Aquinas and his esse philosophy. Gilson’s theses had an important impact on the world of Thomism, but Lawrence Dewan, also a Thomist, wanted to defend against Gilson the traditional interpretation of Cayetano and Capreolo, which until now had been regarded as the most celebrated commentators of Thomas. This article investigates a specific point of this confrontation: the causation of esse.
