La construcción cinematográfica de la biodiversidad : representaciones en el cine de animación y sus posibles implicaciones en la enseñanza de las ciencias en Educación Primaria desde la relación ciencia-arte

Abstract

La actual crisis planetaria tiene una de sus peores caras en la crisis de biodiversidad, que afecta a todos los niveles de organización de los seres vivos y por tanto también a los seres humanos. Para paliar los efectos negativos de esta deriva se plantean iniciativas científicas e iniciativas de gestión, pero también es necesario su abordaje desde el ámbito educativo. Además, es necesario un tratamiento multidisciplinar y transversal del problema. Por ello planteamos esta investigación como un intento de aunar Ciencias de la Naturaleza y Artes para, desde la Educación Primaria transmitir al alumnado el significado y relevancia de la diversidad biológica. Se considera que algunas producciones de cine animado pueden resultar interesantes, pues el cine, es portador de significados, emociona, motiva y genera valores y actitudes. Pero la diversidad biológica es un tema complejo, y la educación científica en nuestro país no atraviesa su mejor momento. Con este telón de fondo se plantea la siguiente investigación en primer lugar para conocer en qué punto se encuentra la investigación académica de nuestro país en relación con el uso del cine en la educación científica. En segundo lugar, nos aproximamos a la percepción que tiene el profesorado en formación de Educación Primaria sobre el uso del cine animado en la escuela. Por último, se analiza una muestra de películas animadas para determinar hasta qué punto representan las cuestiones más importantes relacionadas con la diversidad biológica. Los resultados de la investigación nos indican que en nuestro país aún se investiga poco sobre el uso del cine para la educación científica. Por otra parte, el profesorado en formación percibe el cine animado como un recurso potencialmente útil para su futuro ejercicio profesional, aunque dicho potencial no se explota actualmente ni en Educación Primaria ni en la formación inicial del profesorado. Por último, las películas animadas seleccionadas ofrecen unos resultados esperanzadores en lo que a la representación de la biodiversidad se refiere, pues muestran una interesante diversidad de especies y ecosistemas, así como de problemáticas ambientales. Además, estas películas transmiten un conjunto de valores proambientales que podrían suponer el desarrollo de futuras conductas en favor de la conservación de la diversidad biológica. Parece que el cine animado podría ser utilizado como recurso para abordar algunos contenidos curriculares. En todo caso aún queda un largo camino por recorrer sobre todo en relación con la alfabetización científica, pero también con la alfabetización artística y mediática, imprescindibles para poder utilizar el cine con garantías en el aula.

The current planetary crisis has one of its worst faces in the biodiversity crisis, which affects all levels of organization of living beings and therefore also human beings. To alleviate the negative effects of this drift, scientific and management initiatives are proposed, but it is also necessary to address it from an educational point of view. In addition, a multidisciplinary and cross-cutting approach to the problem is needed. For this reason, we propose this research as an attempt to combine Nature Sciences and Arts in order to transmit the meaning and relevance of biological diversity to students in Primary Education. It is considered that some animated film productions can be interesting, since cinema is a carrier of meanings, excites, motivates and generates values and attitudes. But biological diversity is a complex subject, and science education in our country is not going through its best moment. Against this backdrop, the following research is proposed in the first place to find out where academic research in our country stands in relation to the use of film in science education. Secondly, we approach to the perception that teachers in training of Primary Education have about the use of animated films in school. Finally, a sample of animated films is analysed to determine the extent to which they represent the most important issues related to biological diversity. The results of the research indicate that in our country there is still little research on the use of film for science education. On the other hand, teachers in training perceive animated films as a potentially useful resource for their future professional practice, although this potential is not currently exploited either in primary education or in initial teacher training. Finally, the selected animated films offer encouraging results as far as the representation of biodiversity is concerned, as they show an interesting diversity of species and ecosystems, as well as environmental issues. Moreover, these films convey a set of pro-environmental values that could lead to the development of future behaviours in favour of biodiversity conservation. It seems that animated films could be used as a resource to address some curricular contents. In any case, there is still a long way to go, especially in relation to scientific literacy, but also to artistic and media literacy, which are essential to be able to use films with guarantees in the classroom.
