La noción de prudencia digital como soporte para otra retórica en entornos digitales.

Abstract

En los últimos años ha habido importantes movimientos dentro de la retórica para hacerse valer en el ámbito digital. Para significarse han optado por los términos “ciberretórica” o “retórica digital”: un cambio de nombre que se justificaría si hubieran planteado un cambio sustancial en la disciplina a partir de la disrupción que supone la tecnología digital, pero lo que proponen es una continuidad desde los postulados clásicos, obviando los roces inevitables. Como alternativa se plantea, como punto de partida para una retórica más atenta al corpus que generan las nuevas comunicaciones en entornos digitales que a las fórmulas heredadas de los clásicos, la noción de “prudencia digital”: M. Prensky propuso la noción de “sabiduría digital” frente a la de los nativos digitales para permitir una gradación con las distintas formas en que los individuos interactúan con la tecnología, más escalable y libre de determinismos. Con “prudencia digital”, que remite a la frónesis clásica (a los prudentes en Aristóteles), se le da más visibilidad a los reflejos que les son necesarios a los usuarios y, en un segundo nivel, a la disciplina, para sacarles partido a las posibilidades de la comunicación digital, que se actualizan constantemente; refuerza el carácter práctico de esa sabiduría digital, para evitar la tentación de querer forzar el sentido y las formas de las nuevas comunicaciones lingüísticas con unos parámetros -las fórmulas clásicas para el discurso- que no le son siempre los más adecuados.

Within the Rhetoric there have been important movements to assert themselves in the digital sphere. To signify themselves, they have opted for the terms “cyber-rhetoric” or “digital rhetoric”: a name change that would be justified if they had proposed a substantial change in the discipline from the disruption that digital technology supposes, but what they propose is continuity from the classical postulates, avoiding the inevitable frictions. As a starting point for a more attentive rhetoric to the corpus generated by new communications in digital environments (not so focused on the formulas inherited from the classics), we propose the notion of “digital prudence”: M. Prensky proposed the notion of “digital wisdom" versus that of digital natives. This allowed a gradation with the different ways in which individuals interact with technology, more scalable and free of determinisms. With “digital prudence”, which refers to the classical phronesis (prudent individuals in Aristotle), we highlight the reflexes that are necessary for users and, on a second level, for discipline, to take advantage of the possibilities of digital communication, which are constantly updated. This notion reinforces the practical nature of this digital wisdom, to avoid the temptation of wanting to force the meaning and forms of the new linguistic communications with some parameters - the classical formulas for discourse - that are not always the most appropriate.
