MANUAL ESSENCE TOOL - ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS IN SCHOOLS EDUCATIONNURTURING CITIZENSHIP AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Abstract

The Essence Project provides a tool for easing the evaluation of transversal skills such as critical thinking, creativity and initiative. This tool was developed by the University of Murcia and helps the student in acquiring/evaluating entrepreneurial competences. Our objective is to offer a tool that allows teachers to evaluate these skills in a simple way, that allows them to access the rubrics in a simple way, that protects the data of the children and teachers, that can be easily carried in a mobile version or in the computer and that is available for the whole community to be distributed and, of course, changed or improved under the same license. The tool is composed of two parts: the assessment rubrics for the competence of the students by the teachers, and a small self-assessment tool (focused on the three sub-competences we have worked on) for the students. The idea is that this tool accomplished what is supposed to always be the aim of technology, but which is rarely achieved: that technology makes our work easier and that as light as possible... the least noisy and the most versatile.
