¿Traducción directa o inversa?, análisis desde la perspectiva española e italiana a través de la obra "La danza degli gnomi" de Guido Gozzano

Abstract

Basándose en anteriores estudios, el siguiente trabajo de fin de máster tiene como principal cometido resolver un par de cuestiones primordiales. Por un lado, comprobar si la traducción en lengua materna, también llamada traducción directa, es más efectiva a la hora de transmitir el mensaje de un texto original que la traducción en lengua no vernácula, más conocida como traducción inversa. Por otro lado, analizar de qué manera afecta en la comprensión de la traducción de un texto (directa o inversa) que el traductor y el lector compartan la misma lengua nativa. La herramienta metodológica elegida para llevar a cabo nuestro propósito en este trabajo de investigación será la encuesta. De este modo participantes nativos tanto españoles como italianos (con buen nivel de la lengua española) deberán responder a un breve cuestionario indicando cuál de las dos traducciones al castellano de la fábula La danza degli gnomi de Guido Gozzano comprenden mejor. En la encuesta se mostrarán diversos fragmentos de dicha obra que previamente habrá traducido por un lado un traductor español nativo con nivel C2 de italiano y, por otro, uno italiano con nivel C2 de español, ambos de edades y condiciones culturales similares. Para que los resultados de la presente investigación sean lo más objetivos posible también se tomará en consideración si ambos traductores han seguido los mismos criterios de traducción como, por ejemplo, si han realizado una traducción homóloga o análoga con respecto al texto original, además de otro tipo de factores que puedan influir en la traducción.

Based on previous studies, the following Master’s Dissertation has the main task of resolving a couple of major issues. On the one hand, to check whether the translation into the mother tongue, also called direct translation, is more effective in conveying the message of an original text than the translation into a non-vernacular language, better known as reverse translation. On the other hand, to analyse how the understanding of the translation of a text (direct or reverse) is affected by the fact that the translator and the reader share the same native language. The methodological tool chosen to carry out our purpose in this research work will be the survey. In this way, Italian native participants (with a good level of Spanish) and Spanish one will have to answer a short questionnaire indicating which of the two Spanish translations of the tale La danza degli gnomi by Guido Gozzano they understand better. The survey will show various fragments of this fairy-tale which will have been previously translated, on the one hand, by a native Spanish translator with a C2 level of Italian and, on the other hand, by an Italian translator with a C2 level of Spanish, both of similar age and cultural conditions. In order to make the results of this research as objective as possible, it will also be taken into consideration whether both translators have followed the same translation criteria, such as whether they have produced a similar or analogous translation of the original text, as well as other factors that may influence the translation.
