Utopía y distopía en clave de ciencia ficción en la novelística de Edmundo Paz Soldán

Abstract

La ciencia ficción es un campo reciente dentro del estudio de la literatura. Sobre todo, en lengua española ha sido un género narrativo maltratado por el tiempo, y más concretamente lo ha sido en el panorama latinoamericano. No obstante, en pleno siglo XXI, la mentalidad del hombre avanza a pasos agigantados. De ahí que la ciencia y la tecnología se hayan convertido en todo un nuevo paradigma social. Al contrario, el estudio de la utopía ha sido un tema muy socorrido a lo largo de la historia. En América ha sido sin duda el paraíso soñado. En el estudio de la literatura latinoamericana, se ha resuelto como su pasado, como su presente y como su futuro en busca del Dorado, el Edén, la tierra prometida, el espacio idílico, etc. Por otra parte, el germen actual de la ciencia ficción facilita su estudio a partir de dos circunstancias verídicas: un interés más recurrente por los escritores y los investigadores. Además, gracias a las innovaciones científico-tecnológicas, las facilidades en la investigación de su estudio son cada vez mayores. Ya en Latinoamérica, el escritor boliviano Edmundo Paz Soldán (1967) representa un hito dentro del género por ser una de las voces en español más renovadoras e innovadoras de este fenómeno. Se ha atrevido a fusionar ciencia ficción y utopía en sus últimas obras, juntando las armas literarias del pasado latinoamericano y la arquitectura global contemporánea para encaminarse hacia una literatura del futuro. Desde el concepto de utopía hasta el concepto mismo de ciencia ficción que desarrolla el autor nos centraremos en su novelística para estudiar la fusión perfecta que ejecuta el mismo, lo cual convierte al escritor en una de las voces más prometedoras del siglo XXI. De esta manera, en nuestro estudio realizaremos una subgradación del concepto de utopía dentro del campo de la ciencia ficción. Asimismo, nos basaremos en la simbología de los argumentos y de las personalidades más destacadas del corpus narrativo para demostrar que la literatura pazsoldiana funciona como una distopía en clave de ciencia ficción.

Science fiction is a recent field in the study of literature. Above all, in the Spanish language it has been a narrative genre battered by time, and more specifically it has been on the Latin American scene. However, in the 21st century, the mentality of man advances by leaps and bounds. Hence, science and technology have become a whole new social paradigm. On the contrary, the study of utopia has been a very popular subject throughout history. In America it has undoubtedly been a dream paradise. In the study of Latin American literature, it has been resolved as its past, as its present and as its future in search of El Dorado, Eden, the promised land, the idyllic space, etc. On the other hand, the current germ of science fiction facilitates its study based on two true circumstances: a more recurring interest by writers and researchers. In addition, thanks to scientific-technological innovations, the research facilities of your study are increasing. Already in Latin America, the Bolivian writer Edmundo Paz Soldán (1967) represents a milestone within the genre for being one of the most innovative and innovative Spanish voices of this phenomenon. He has dared to merge science fiction and utopia in his latest works, bringing together the literary weapons of the Latin American past and contemporary global architecture to head towards a literature of the future. From the concept of utopia to the very concept of science fiction that the author develops, we will focus on his novel to study the perfect fusion that he executes, which makes the writer one of the most promising voices of the 21st century. In this way, in our study we will make a subgrade of the concept of utopia within the field of science fiction. Likewise, we will use the symbology of the arguments and the most prominent personalities of the narrative corpus to demonstrate that the pazsoldian literature works as a dystopia in the key of science fiction.
