Abstract
This report presents both a rationale and empirical evidence that reinforce the importance of understanding the use of built infrastructure and service provision in different forms of social infrastructure to the advancement and sustainability of gender equality. The findings and discussion presented in this report reaffirm the benefits of adopting a gender mainstreaming approach in policymaking, including decisions on public infrastructure design, investment and evaluation.
