Abstract
Puede observarse que desde su óptica helena Heródoto tipifica unas impiedades genuinamente griegas e inequívocamente religiosas. En el universo religioso que plantea este historiador, los hechos y los comportamientos, aunque de pueblos diversos, son pasados por el tamiz del pensamiento religioso tradicional de los helenos. Parece que del análisis de la terminología religiosa en Heródoto puede colegirse que le interesan sobre todo los aspectos legales de la religión más que los conceptuales y no tanto el concepto de religión como tal. El vocabulario estudiado se muestra claramente escorado hacia el terreno de la irreligiosidad, pero dentro de una idea tradicional de la piedad y de que no puede haber impiedad sin castigo.
Abstract: It can be observed that from his Hellenic perspective, Herodotus typifies impieties that are genuinely Greek and unequivocally religious. In the religious universe presented by this historian, actions and behaviors, though belonging to different peoples, are filtered through the traditional religious thought of the Hellenes. It seems that from an analysis of Herodotus’ religious terminology, one may infer that he is primarily interested in the legal aspects of religion rather than the conceptual ones, and not so much in the notion of religion as such. The vocabulary studied is clearly inclined toward the field of irreligiosity, yet within a traditional idea of piety and of the belief that there can be no impiety without punishment.
