Abstract
Este estudio investiga el comportamiento lingüístico de una paciente bilingüe con lesión en el núcleo caudado. La bibliografía señala que este tipo de daño puede afectar a diferentes aspectos lingüísticos: al control de la lengua en uso, al acceso al léxico o a la prosodia. Para determinar los déficits presentes, se realizaron tareas de denominación, conversación semi-estructurada y lectura grabada. Los resultados mostraron que la paciente activaba ambas lenguas en condiciones dirigidas y mantenía una prosodia normal. No obstante, se observaron dificultades en la conversación semi-estructurada, donde los cambios de código eran involuntarios. Esto sugiere que la lesión afecta el control automático del lenguaje en tareas no estructuradas. El estudio aporta información sobre la comprensión del rol del núcleo caudado en el control lingüístico bilingüe y su impacto en la regulación del uso lingüístico.
Abstract: This study investigates the linguistic performance of a bilingual patient with damage to the caudate nucleus. The literature suggests that lesions in this region affect three primary linguistic functions: control of language in use, lexical access and prosody. To determine which of these deficits were present in the patient, various tasks were conducted: naming, semi-structured conversation and recorded reading. The findings show that the patient was able to activate both languages in directed conditions, and prosodic performance remained normal. However, difficulties were observed in semi-structured conversation, in which code-switching occurred involuntarily. This suggests that the lesion affects control of language in non-structured tasks. This study contributes to the understanding of the role of the caudate nucleus in bilingual linguistic behaviour and its impact on the regulation of language use.
