La novella LXXX de Morlini es uno de los ejemplos europeos más antiguos de un tema ampliamente extendido: el de la princesa rescatada por sus pretendientes. La afinidad estructural y temática de esta historia con los cuentos maravillosos explica alguna de las peculiaridades de su evolución.
