Description
Abstract
The author maintains that the reception of Luis Vives' work in Spain was particularly intense while the Valencian author was still alive, under Carlos V's reign. During that time, great importance was given to the knowledgeable aspects of his work, though not forgetting the reflexive ones. Although during the 17th century assimilation lost effectiveness, he was still quoted during Felipe II's Spain in marginal annotations in books, in which the focus of interest revolves around Diálogos. A more enthusiastic and accurate recovery of Vives takes place in late 18th century Spain. In the 19th century, the reception is conditioned by both the ideological frame and a positive perspective.
