Las dracmas ligeras fueron las últimas monedas de plata locales acuñadas en la ceca
griega de
Emporion.
Con una circulación red
ucida al extremo del NE. peninsular, en este
trabajo ofrecemos las diferentes variantes existentes (recopiladas por L. Villaronga a la que
añadimos una procedente de la colección Cores), así como la metrología, circulación y
cronología de esta interesante
amonedación. En contra del gran numismático catalán,
consideramos que este numerario fue acuñado a finales del siglo II a.C. y principios del siglo I
a.C., sea para dejar patente la independencia de la antigua colonia focea y/o para colaborar en el
esfuerzo de guerra romano.
The light drachmas were the last local silver coins minted in the Greek mint of Emporion. With a reduced circulation to the extreme of t he NE. peninsular, in this study we offer the different existing variants (compiled by L. Villaronga to which we add one from the Cores collection), as well as the metrology, circulation and chronology of this interesting coinage . Against the great Catalan numismatist, we consider that this series was struck at the end of the second century B.C. and at the beginning of the 1st century B.C., to make clea r the independence of the former Focean colony and/or to collaborate in the Roman war effort of the moment.
