Description
Abstract
This dataset contains the verified match performance metrics used to evaluate the tactical influence of ruck contact exposure and breakdown efficiency on match outcomes in international rugby union. The data tracks actions from senior men's international matches played by the Spanish national team (Los Leones). The repository consists of the primary, fully annotated, and cross-validated dataset in native Jamovi format (.omv). Starting from a comprehensive multi-phase tactical record of 3,383 actions, a selective filter was embedded to strictly isolate the rucking phase. After removing missing values, the final analyzed sample comprises exactly N = 2,339 operational rucks across 20 international matches.Variables include pitch territory, match half, player type, gainline progression, sequence phase length, and breakdown player density. The structured data supports a multivariate binomial logistic regression model (overall accuracy: 59.1%; AUC = 0.632, allowing researchers and sports analysts to fully replicate the published odds ratios, confusion matrices, and estimated marginal means.
