Valoración socioeconómica de la extracción de gas mediante fracturación hidráulica en la Región de Murcia

Extraction of unconventional gas through hydraulic fracturing, the so-called "fracking", is a highly controversial debate, considering on the one hand economic benefits and on the other hand its environmental impacts, and risks for public health. Recently, relevant Policy makers approved applications to allow the exploration of gas resources that could be extracted through fracking in the North Murcia region, likewise in other parts of Spain. Such approvals caused the formation of local groups that oppose fracking. The main objective of this investigation is to explore the knowledge, public perception and social acceptability of the citizens of the Murcia Region upon this technique for energy generation. A survey has been developed to address such research objective, undertaking also a contingent valuation on the prohibition of implementation fracking in the region. Among others, the findings show that more than 2/3 of the survey respondents are in favour of the implementation of such technique provided that the environment and public health would be effectively safeguarded. Furthermore, it is estimated that each household, on average, would be willing to pay approximately 15 per year for their energy bill in order to prohibit or postpone the exploitation of unconventional gas through fracking in the region.

La sierra de Cartagena-La Unión (Murcia): un ejemplo de actividad turística a través del patrimonio minero

The final cessation in 1991 of mining in the Sierra de Cartagena-La Union Murcia region earned it the beginning of a major economic downturn has not answered until recent times, where the initiative for the enhancement of important mining-industrial legacy is now the basis for the creation of a tourism project complementary to traditional sun and beach located in La Manga del Mar Menor. The SWOT analysis included as the main methodology of this work will allow through the participation of different groups understand and analyze the present and the future prospects of this new activity that potentially represent a major change in the socio-economic activity of the region and therefore of its inhabitants.

El cultivo del viñedo como recurso turístico cultural: el caso de la Geria (Lanzarote. Islas Canarias, España)

La agricultura es un sector económico importante pero actualmente en regresión. El paisaje agrícola constituye un patrimonio que puede ser puesto en valor como recurso turístico, de manera que ambas actividades, agricultura y turismo, se verían mutuamente beneficiadas de esa relación. El presente trabajo aborda la evolución y situación actual del sector vitivinícola, su producción y sistemas de cultivo, distribución espacial y expectativas de futuro. Asimismo, se pone en relación el paisaje vitivinícola con la actividad turística y el uso que del primero se está llevando a cabo, y aún puede potenciarse, como atractivo en rutas y actividades de ocio para los visitantes de Lanzarote.

Envejecimiento de la población en la Región de Murcia: causas y consecuencias

The significant gains in life expectancy achieved in recent years, along with reduced fertility rates, below replacement level, have led to a gradual aging of the Spanish population, which will manifest itself in a continuous decline in the population of working age and a continued increase in the proportion of population older than 65 years. Murcia Region, though has better demographic expectations than other Spanish regions, also experiencing an acute population ageing. In this way, if the current situation of dependence and economic recession there is not improved, the Welfare State can be compromised in its maintenance and its continuity will be more difficult with an aged demographic structure.

Estrategias de promoción inmobiliaria en la producción de la ciudad. El caso del "desarrollista" GAMA en la ciudad de Córdoba, Argentina

Cordoba, like many Argentine cities, has developed in recent years a strong increase in urbanization. In this context, business groups have deployed a set of practices, seeking to maximize the gain with respect to the production processes of town. In this sense, based on the study of one of the largest "urban development" in the city, GAMA S.A, systematized a series of strategies / practices that aim to maximize profit both as regards the production process and production and capitalization of urban incomes. Mainly we identified two dimensions: strategies over economic and financial order that make your average profit, and territorial strategies related to real estate development and utilization of urban income, which make extraordinary profit. The distinction is analytical as they occur so often and articulated together.
