- PublicationOpen AccessData research: Body composition, aerobic capacity and heart rate of 10-14 years old soccer players.(2026-02-24) Borrego Balsalobre, Francisco José; Actividad Física y Deporte1.Description of the methodology used to generate the dataset. 2. Software or tools needed to interpret the data. [Include the version of the software. If specific software with restricted access is required, explain how to obtain it. Assess whether it is possible to change the dataset to an open format (recommended)]. Procedures followed for data quality assurance.
- PublicationOpen AccessData research: Levels of sustainability awareness in Spanish university students of Nautical activities as future managers of sports and active tourism programmes(MDPI, 2023-02-02) Borrego Balsalobre, Francisco José; Actividad Física y Deporte1.Description of the methodology used to generate the dataset. The data were analysed using non-parametric statistical tests because they did not conform to a normal distribution. For this purpose, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test was used. A bivariate correlation was performed using Spearman’s Rho test between the different constructs and factors that made up the SCQ-S tool in the sample under study. Likewise, using the chi-square test, we attempted to determine the relationship between the different nominal categorical variables added to the tool. Independent samples mean analysis was also performed using the Mann–Whitney U-test when the number of groups was 2 and the Kruskal–Wallis test when the number of groups was greater than 2. In addition, exploratory factor analysis was performed using principal axis factoring and Vari-max rotation based on a fixed number of 9 factors to be extracted, determined by a previous thorough literature review. The adequacy of the sample and the reliability of the factor models were assessed using Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin and Cronbach’s alpha. Descriptive data on means and standard deviations of the numerical variables included in the study were also obtained. 2. Software or tools needed to interpret the data. [Include the version of the software. If specific software with restricted access is required, explain how to obtain it. Assess whether it is possible to change the dataset to an open format (recommended)]. Data analysis was carried out with Statistical Package for Social Science® software, version 28 (SPSS®, Chicago, IL, USA). 3. Procedures followed for data quality assurance. The level of statistical significance was p < 0.05. For those cases where significance was obtained, effect size and statistical power were analysed using G*Power 3.1.9.7.

- PublicationOpen AccessDataset used for the study entitled: A Longitudinal Robust Linear Mixed-Effects Analysis.(2026-06-15) Villarejo García, Diego; Actividad Física y Deporte; Facultades de la UMU::Facultad de Ciencias del DeporteMETHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION AND SAMPLE SIZE This study followed a longitudinal, prospective, and multi-cohort quasi-experimental design. The initial clinical recruitment comprised 72 breast cancer survivors referred by the Murcian Health Service (Servicio Murciano de Salud, SMS) across health zones 1, 6, and 7. The source population presented high clinical heterogeneity, incorporating patients undergoing both conservative surgical procedures (lumpectomy, quadrantectomy, oncoplasty; 37.5%, n = 16) and radical/non-conservative interventions (complete, modified, or bilateral mastectomy; 52.8%, $n = 23$; along with additional bilateral procedures, 9.7%, $n = 4$), combined with or without axillary lymph node dissection and sentinel lymph node biopsy. The final statistical monitoring focused on a strict per-protocol sample of 36 participants ($n = 36$) who complied with the clinical compliance threshold (Cumulative Attendance Percentage > 33.33%) and possessed complete data rows across all operational time points. Neuromuscular performance was tracked at baseline pre-intervention (PRE) and following a 12-week supervised resistance training macrocycle (POST). Because each participant was measured repeatedly across both upper limbs (Operated vs. Non-Operated), the final longitudinal data matrix contains a total volume of exactly $N = 128$ independent longitudinal observations ($obs$) clustered hierarchically within patients.

- PublicationOpen AccessReport of "Host Defense Peptide Hepcidin 1 and Iron Overload Differentially Modulate Energy, Lipid, and Hepatic–Biliary Metabolic Pathways in Gilthead Seabream (Sparus aurata) Blood"(2025) García Navarro, Laura; Serna Duque, John Alberto; Marín Parra, Claudia; Esteban Abad, María Ángeles; Esteban Abad, María Ángeles; Biología Celular e Histología; Esteban Abad, María Ángeles; Facultades de la UMU::Facultad de BiologíaHepcidin 1 (HDP, antimicrobial and iron regulator peptide) and iron overload are relevant in aquaculture, but their in vivo physiological effects in healthy fish are poorly characterized. This study evaluated how intraperitoneal injections of hepcidin 1, iron (iron-dextran), and a sequential treatment (iron and hepcidin 1) modulate the blood metabolome of gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) at 10 days, due to their adaptive role in response to systemic changes. Multivariate analyses showed metabolomic alterations in all three situations, although weak at 10 days; in the iron→hepcidin 1 group, the separation in PCA was not significant (P=0.247), suggesting overlap or absence of unidirectional shift. In all three treatments, 15 chemical superclasses were conserved (predominance of lipids), indicating quantitative reorganization. There was an activation of energy metabolism coupled with immune response, involving lipids, fatty acids, acyl-CoA/acylcarnitines, and signals from one-carbon metabolism (folate/serine/methionine) connected to NAD(H)/NADP(H) and redox balance, although several associations lost robustness (non-significant FDR), consistent with a return to homeostasis. Hepcidin 1 was associated with increased adenosine, Lys-Glu-Leu tripeptide, dodecanoylcarnitine and phosphoethanolamines/phosphocholines (LysoPE/PE/LysoPC), along with a decrease in exogenous compounds (e.g., erythromycin C, harzianopyridone), suggesting modulation of the gut–microbiota–barrier axis or hepatic-biliary clearance. Iron overload induced reprogramming compatible with reactive oxygen species management (increase in catalposide and L-NIL/L-NILL-type metabolites), lipid remodeling (decrease in PC/PE/PS, cholesterol esters and triglycerides), and greater mitochondrial mobilization of fatty acids (increase in linoleylcarnitine), without clear markers of peroxidation, liver damage or inflammation; herbicides (bensulfuron/sulfometuron methyl) were also reduced. In the iron and hepcidin 1 group, metabolites pointed to three axes: β-oxidation/fatty acid transport, phospho-/sphingolipid remodeling, and hepatic-biliary involvement with possible microbiota alteration. In conclusion, hepcidin 1 and iron modulate energy and lipid metabolism in gilthead sea bream blood, providing biomarkers and a framework for interpreting immunometabolic adaptations in aquaculture, although targeted validation of annotations and higher temporal resolution are required.
- PublicationOpen AccessResearch trends in physical activity and breast cancer: a 25-year bibliometric analysis (2000–2025) using the bibliometrix R package(2026-01-06) Navarro Martínez, Carlos; Villarejo García, Diego; Becerra Patiño, Boryi Alexander; Pino Ortega, José; Actividad Física y Deporte; Facultad de Ciencias del DeporteIntroduction: Research on physical activity and breast cancer has grown steadily over the past 25 years, with a progressive shift from physiological and safety-related questions towards clinical, psychosocial and implementation domains. Objective: To describe research trends, key actors and thematic foci in the scientific literature on physical activity and breast cancer between 2000 and 2025. Methods: We included articles and reviews without language restrictions, published between 2000 and 2025 and indexed in Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science. Records were exported in CSV format and analysed using the Bibliometrix package in R. We described publication and citation volume, collaboration patterns (countries, institutions and authors), core journals according to Bradford’s law, and the semantic evolution of the field based on keyword co-occurrence and trend topics. Results: We identified 13,329 documents on physical activity and breast cancer, with a sustained increase in both publications and citations over the study period. A marked geographical concentration was observed, with leadership by high-income, mainly Anglophone countries and a limited number of specialised editorial cores, as well as a small group of highly influential authors. The thematic analysis showed a shift from studies focused on functional capacity and safety towards clinical practice guidelines, survivorship and quality of life, alongside emerging lines such as prehabilitation, remote interventions and tele-exercise. Conclusions: The field of physical activity and breast cancer shows a high and growing scientific output with a clear clinical orientation. Integrating exercise prescription into oncological care pathways, defining and standardising dose–response schemes according to tumour phenotype and clinical context, and expanding multicentre studies that include under-represented regions and populations—particularly in low- and middle-income countries—are recommended priorities for future research and practice.
