    Las competencias informacionales y la evaluación de la docencia universitaria

    Universities have the responsibility to educate their students. However, there is evidence that the evaluation of university teachers is based mainly on their research activity rather than their teaching which includes taking into account how much do students learn, if they will be ready to apply what they have learnt in a job position or if they are qualified to face a professional life full of changes and also aware of continuing education and the acquisition of new knowledge and information throughout their life. Universities have to include competencies on information use and management, as well as to reconsider a better recognition of teaching, active pedagogical methods and the involvement of librarians in learning activities.

    We analize how 25 full-time professors who teach Library Science at UNAM University consider the importance of information literacy and how they include teaching of Information Literacy to their students. We conclude that this content must be include in curricula, because of its influence on the capacity for lifelong learning of librarian and citizen in general

    Foro Biblioteca y Sociedad: Experiencias de innovación y mejora.

    El objetivo del Foro Biblioteca y Sociedad", organizado por ANABAD en la Universidad de Murcia, fue difundir mejoras relevantes de los servicios de las bibliotecas en España, para cambiar la visión social de las bibliotecas. De hecho, la falta de percepción de los ciudadanos de las contribuciones de las bibliotecas es un problema que afecta a la demanda social y la financiación: Las bibliotecas están experimentando un rápido cambio (conceptual, tecnológico y de gestión), como resultado de las transformaciones sociales y culturales. Y si la demanda y la utilidad social no es obvia para la ciudadanía, el apoyo político y financiero se verá afectado, por lo que tendrán dificultades para seguir en el proceso de adaptación continua en el que bibliotecas deben estar.

    La función educativa de bibliotecas y bibliotecarios en el contexto de las tecnologías participativas de la web social

    We describe the possibilities of some cooperative tools of Web 2.0 for improving the educational role and function of libraries and librarian. In particular, blogs, wikis and social networks are considered ways to produce and publish information that contribute to acquire information literacy. We also explain how Web 2.0 modifies some practices and principles of librarianship, and because of these changes we consider that librarian should be educator in the Internet context, using a new Spanish word, entrenauta, with which we synthesized this proposed role.
